So I've been encouraged by a friend to start a blog and post my travel adventures. My husband and I like to create meaningful vacations for our kids and so I want to share all the fun details, advice and great websites I've found with others. We've loved our vacations and hope to share the FUN! My point of this blot to share the details of the vacation not just a general overview. I just want to Cut to the Chase!
We've been to alot of places in the U.S. but I better start with all my tips and advice from our most recent trip to New York City in July, since it's more fresh in my mind.
When we went to visit New York City we really went to see it ALL. My kids walked A LOT but also got to see A LOT and loved it. We took our baby as well and wore him in a baby backpack the entire time. I can't really recommend strollers in New York City, especially if you're taking multiple subway/bus/ taxi trips while you are visiting. Which you will end up doing if you plan to see the entire Island.
We really like to get the kids really excited before a trip so we talk talk talk about what they will see, why it's important, we usually borrow videos from the library, read books, and look online to learn more about the place we are visiting. They get soooo much more out of it this way.
So this trip we borrowed a great book from the library called Storied city : a children's book walking-tour guide to New York City / Leonard S. Marcus. This book is packed FULL of picture and chapter book titles and explanations. We tried to read all the picture books which at last count was something around 60 of them. The kids connected to the sites much better this way, and as we were seeing the sites we could talk about the books we read. Really cool. There is lots more to come. . thanks for reading!
